1. Ask the dog to sit. Yes/treat

2. Say take and throw a handful of treats before you open the door.

3. As they run after the treats you reach back and just unlatch the door so the visitor can let themselves in.

4. Immediately bend over with treats in your hands so the dog sees that as they return to the door.

5. Give them 10 treats for coming to you.

6. Stand up and ask them to sit. Yes/treat.

7. Say take and throw one treat per dog.

8. Bend over with treats in your hands.

9. Give them 10 treats for coming to you.

10. Stand up and ask them to sit. Yes/treat.

11. Say take and throw one treat per dog. 12. When they return, 8 treats for coming then ask for the sit. Yes/ 2 treats. If they sit before you ask, yes/ 10 treats.

 

Gradually decrease the number of treats for coming to you and increase the number once they are sitting so they continue to get 10 treats. Repeat the take and the sit a few more times so they are calm and focused on you. You only lure them to you with the treat in your hands the first 2 times unless the first time you had to work to get their attention. In that case make sure you get at least two rounds of the dogs coming to you and being well rewarded before you start decreasing the treats for coming to you.
